Funny, but I remember a time when Bush was using the Patriot Act to look at the people who terrorists were 1 or 2 hops away from and the left screamed FASCISM.

The Patriot Act violated a couple of amendments. It was an abomination. Warrantless wiretaps? As far as I'm concerned, they can investigate anyone they like as long as the follow the rules. For example, get a judge to sign an order.

The Patriot Act allowed them NOT to follow the rules. I think that's what most people had a problem with.
