This whole video is worth a watch. Interviewing a professor who is an expert in this area. However, if you want a summary, skip to about 1 hr (I think 1:01). Basically, he says the US is going to have to get involved regardless. Whether we help Ukraine, or we have the greater Europe after Ukraine falls, we will have to be involved. If you view the whole video, you'll get lots of details about operational capabilities and lack of capabilities, and how it is affected by various factors.
