The feds are NOT banning natural gas. In fact, federal court threw out a CA law just last year that would have banned new natural gas installations. The law wouldn't have affected existing installations.

WA is a state. If you read the article, the ruling was about whom has jurisdiction in zoning matters. Essentially. WA may be able to do it, though expect another suit from the restaurant association that sued Berkley for their ban.
No, I don't think Biden would. Natural gas is not really clean, so it isn't really "nonsense". But it is cleaner than coal or oil products (petrol). Doing a nationwide ban would be very unpopular. And, frankly, we have bigger fish to fry (see what I did there?).
We have natural gas in our house. We had a sort of "duh" moment a few months ago, and started turning on the vent hood every time we ignite a flame. Often the hood was on when cooking anyway, but not always. The auto-on feature doesn't trigger unless there's a moderate amount of steam/smoke. But the byproducts of burning natural gas are not good for you. Should have realized that a long time ago. So now, if it doesn't turn on automatically, we turn it on to vent any fumes from the combustion. Yes, our vent hood vents to the outside, and is VERY powerful (they installed some fresh air vents in the house so that when the hood is on it isn't creating a negative pressure in the house).

On Sunday Mornings in the tiny Utah town where I was living in 1981 the only thing I could get on the AM radio was some whacko preacher who would literally scream "Our God is a God of war!" He was old testament all the way. Christ did not enter into his preaching at all.

I don't bother keeping track of every time y'all though something was happening and nothing was because I don't want to create a data base that large and queryable. However, AI may make this easily doable in a couple of years. https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/the-hea...There is CO, of course. But NO2 is the bigger concern. It is associated with increased rates of breathing problems in both children and adults. If one must use gas, we are doing the correct thing by using the vent hood.
Our gas grill also has a side burner. We often use that for long simmers, but that was because we didn't want to heat up the house (Arizona, remember). Turns out that was also good for reducing indoor pollution. But our vent hood is powerful. Turning it on isn't really a hassle, we just have to get into the habit. Which we're doing.
Of course, neither of those situations reduce OUTDOOR pollution (our hood vents outside).
We also have a gas water heater. Next time it fails (every 7 or 8 years), I may replace it with an electric. We'll see. There is an outlet handy there.

Just for future planning, that convenience outlet is 120v and an electric WH takes 240V and should be on a dedicated circuit back to your breaker box. $$$

That is something to be aware of, thanks. I believe there are residential units that are 120V. We have 240 in the house, but I don't think in that utility closet. Our plumber is very professional (union trained from NYC), and would know when the time comes.
