On a different forum (pure financial) and I'd say it's NON partisan in that if you just read comments for 1 day, you'd come away not knowing if the forum leans right or left.
I got an email warning from the Board Moderator Whatever :). And all that happened was this
A part of someone's comment was "The Administration wants to go back to the 70's, vis a vis world trade"
So I said exactly "Back to the 70's? Man that is hard. Since the 70's, so any rules have been shaved off. So many barriers have been shaved off. Whereas we were covered in tariffs and protectionism in the 70's, so many of those protections have been shaved away"
I mean really. What, didn't we have more such laws and protections back in the 70s?

We did, but not in the form of tariffs. The US population was POOR--remember wage AND price controls? No money = no spending = no need for many imports ($$$$). Just OIL !!! Saudi Arabia can undercut any US production price and still make a profit.

I didn't pay much attention back then, being more interested in D&D and riding my bike. :-)
However, I don't remember the 70s as a particularly good time for consumers. As an adult, I know we had rules (like Glass-Steagall) that have since been removed. OTOH, I'm pretty sure the Consumer Protection Bureau was started much more recently. Probably at least in part because of the stripping away of rules and protections that were in place in the 70s.
Your post doesn't strike me as partisan in any way. I'd ask for clarification from the board monitor. I used to do that at TMF, and he usually responded to me. Occasionally, he'd see it my way and restore a post (or whatever).
