There have been some mistakes in gender-affirming care, I think. The use of puberty blockers does not have good evidence behind it. Sex really is, for the most part, binary. Gender can be a spectrum.
There absolutely is a peer-pressure contagion towards transgender identification in high schools, especially among females. My family has some experience with this. In our case mental health challenges and gender dysphoria went hand in hand. It seems the dysphoria isn't a big issue when the mental health is stable, so far, at least. It's day to day.
