King Donald keeps whining about the "250% to 390%" Canadian dairy tariffs, insisting that "Canada is a Tariff abuser" and that those tariffs were Joe Biden's fault.

But here's the kicker: Trump negotiated those tariffs himself in the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement, or USMCA, signed in 2018, an agreement he has called “the best trade deal ever made.”

Trump also made a claim that is simply false. He told reporters Friday that the situation with Canadian dairy tariffs was “well taken care of” at the time his first presidency ended, “but under Biden, they just kept raising it.”

In reality, Canada did not raise its dairy tariffs under then-President Joe Biden, as official Canadian documents show and industry groups on both sides of the border confirmed to CNN. The tariffs Trump was denouncing Friday were left in place by the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement, or USMCA, which Trump negotiated, signed in 2018 and has since touted as “the best trade deal ever made.”

Kicker #2: Those high tariffs kick in only after the US has hit a certain Trump-negotiated quantity of tariff-free dairy sales to Canada each year – and as the US dairy industry acknowledges, the US is not hitting its allowed zero-tariff maximum in any category of dairy product.

In short, King Donald is full of something else cows and cattle produce in abundance.

The Trump cult is a cult of gullible morons.

The sad fact is...very few MAGAs get their news from legitimate sources. So they hear Trump's lies and believe them. They just don't get the facts and, really, they don't want the facts. They want what conforms to their cult beliefs.

A note on the dairy industry, the listed import (to Canada) tariffs only kick in when certain thresholds are hit. This is to protect Canadian farmers (we could argue if this is reasonable) - but these thresholds have never been hit since the original agreement was signed (by Trump).

Here is the argument, suppose Canada didn't have any protections in place and the dairy industry collapsed because of cheap imports from the USA. This would put Canada at tremendous risk if an American administration came in and decided to launch a trade war...
