" Bill Gates announces he will accelerate giving and close down the Gates Foundation in 20 years -"
good morning nola, Bills attempt to get in front of the Epstein files soon to be released? Seems odd that Buffett would leave these worthy causes in total, upon his passing. Interesting ending to this friendship.

Interesting ending to this friendship.
I think it's pretty clear they are still close friends. Reasonable people can disagree. Cheers

You may recall, Warren gave Bill a gratuitous shout-out in this year's letter. I will take that as "proof" that there is nothing to your rumors.

I’m always shocked to see someone so consumed by silly conspiracy theories. And the sad thing is, millions in the US are under the influence of conspiracies like this. It’s truly an epidemic of stupidity.

It is you, Cardude, that is spreading these allegations which are probably silly but certainly not germane to the discussion of Berkshire. By quoting them above, ou reduce the effectiveness of people's attempts to focus by ignoring this particular poster. I encourage you to ignore the silliness instead of reproducing it.

Well, he didn't leave them in total, right? Buffett made a substantial donation less than a year ago. He just won't leave the Gates Foundation any money after his death. Buffett has expressed concerns regarding the Gates Foundation's increasing administrative costs and a decline in its appetite for risk-taking. Buffett can influence those things while he's alive, but not after his death. So his actions make sense in that regard.
In an interview in today's NYT, Gates said he was winding down he foundation because there is no way to create a charter that makes sense in the future, without actually knowing the future. So similar reasoning.
Or it could be a conspiracy the details of which will be revealed Real Soon Now™

“ Microsoft announced on Friday that Bill Gates is leaving the board, effective Friday. Gates is also stepping down from his position on the board of Berkshire Hathaway.
"I have made the decision to step down from both of the public boards on which I serve – Microsoft and Berkshire Hathaway – to dedicate more time to philanthropic priorities including global health and development, education, and my increasing engagement in tackling climate change," Gates said on LinkedIn. "The leadership at the Berkshire companies and Microsoft has never been stronger, so the time is right to take this step." Of course, the experts are right again. ☮️

Well by that logic, it’s also your fault for reposting my post!
But you have a point. I think that post came from someone I have on ignore, and I spread the silliness more I suppose.
But we can’t just stick our head in the sand and think this slide into idiocy is going to disappear. It needs to be confronted, but not here maybe.

You're right, but that's why I omitted most of the substantive point (to the extent there was any point to begin with) coming from that particular poster.

We agree on both these points.

“ “Known Epstein clients who are obviously extremely powerful – powerful politically and very wealthy – are Bill Gates, Bill Clinton and Reid Hoffman,” Musk alleged. “And some others, too. But those three.”. In the Rogan interview Musk made very serious allegations against Bill Gates and several others. Musk and Gates hate each other for several reasons. It remains to be seen if anything substantive is disclosed by team trump, going forward. We all know Buffett is very non confrontational, we shall see how Buffett would react IF, huge IF, team trump can’t be bought on this issue??

It always seems to me that statements like this are NOTsaid from a place of "I think this is the truth and you'd all be better off if you understood this" but rather they come from a place more like "Look how wild the stupid shirt is I can say and tweak you leotards, ya daft nimrods"
Or maybe I'm just being paranoid?

Since you decided to revisit this topic, I'm sure you know Gates has been all over the networks talking about his very generous donation Musk and Doge. In your opinion, how often per interview should Bill disclose that he has been short TSLA for years? How do you think Musk feels about what Gates is alleging? How should Tesla owners feel, in your opinion? Thanks.
" Bill Gates warns Elon Musk’s DOGE cuts will cause ‘millions of deaths’"
I wonder if lawsuits will be coming?

Regardless of innuendo, Bill Gates exemplifies one of the many beautiful and succint Hindi proverbs (as I said before on Fool):
Sau chuhe kha ke billi chali Hajj
(After eating a hundred mice, the cat did the (Muslim) pilgrimage to Hajj).
The guy is absolutely no saint. Kudos to the work the Gates Foundation is doing, but the money is 100% tainted, if you believe in such old-fashioned notions.

60 minutes tonight. “ Linda Miller: I believe the government is losing between $550 billion and about $750 billion a year. We're coming up close to the $1 trillion amount-- is lost, every year, to fraud.
Cecilia Vega: When most people think of government fraud, I imagine they're thinking somebody is claiming disability benefits when they're not actually eligible, somebody collecting food stamps when they're not actually eligible. Are those the biggest offenders?
Linda Miller: Not at all, not by a long shot. What we're really talking about is nation-state actors. We're talking about organized crime rings. We're talking about using vast amounts of stolen Americans' identities to monetize them for, you know, criminal activity. “

Question of the day. By demonizing Musk so aggressively is Bill deliberately putting Musk even more at risk? Is Bill putting all tesla owners and their property at risk? Thank you.
