According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, there have been 12 weather/climate events (as of July 11) with losses above $1 billion. Yesterday Florida reported sea level water temps at an all time high with the hottest months of 2023 still to come. Temps of 95-97 F have been measured.

What will be the impacts on hurricane season?

At the annual meeting Ajit reported that reinsurance rates had strengthened and that Berkshire had heavily participated. He also reported that a severe hurricane season in Florida could cost BRK $15 billion - an event they were prepared to handle. Or a mild season could result in profits of several billion.

Can't help wondering how our reinsurance business will perform in 2023.
