I find myself wondering - could an intelligent, energetic person (of low morals) figure out that I have some money? And could they, over the next few years, use wile and new technologies to exploit one or more of my (or a family member's) vulnerabilities? The answer seems obvious; I am a naturally trusting guy.
At the bank today I asked the nice branch managers about how to "lock down" the majority of my funds. Make it impossible to transfer out more than a set amount, without at the very least a personal visit. Better yet, a personal visit WITH my spouse or adult child. The answer was effectively "don't worry your pretty head, our fraud protection team has you covered". Not really satisfactory.
Similar conversations with brokers. Somebody with my login credentials could do a lot of damage.
Are there any financial institutions taking this seriously, providing a higher level of "security" for customers?
