Anyone every played around with purchasing fractional A shares rather than B shares? Maybe at times when the 1/1500 ratio seems a bit out of whack? Just noticed that I can do that at Schwab. So wondering if there are times when, if I'm of a mind to purchase Berkshire anyway, if it make more sense to purchase a fractional A.

But of course the A shares are the only stock in the S&P 500 that Schwab excludes from fractional purchases...never mind.

There is no such thing as a true fractional share. It's just the broker buying a whole share and making a book-keeping entry to allocate fractions to customers. The fractional amount that is _not_ held by customers, the broker is on the hook for that.

Financially not a big deal on a $300 stock, but a pretty big deal on a $510,000 stock.
Especially when the customers who want a fractional share of BRK can just buy whole and/or fractional shares of BRK-B.

You could check Robinhood and let us know what you find out. I'm not giving them any of my financial info.

'Three academics on Wednesday offered a startling answer: trading volumes in the most expensive stock in the US were and continue to be artificially inflated by the way brokers such as Robinhood report fractional share trading.'
