Nope, did not escape. The VP Marketing, at the pump seal company I worked at, in the late 70s, would stick his head in my cube and ask how it's going. If I said I was really busy, he would say "if you can't handle it, we'll find someone who can". If I said it was a bit slow, he would snap "then it's hard to justify keeping you around".
But, one time, I asked a question about all the honchos taking off mid-afternoon, every week in the summer, to play golf. I got quite a lecture about how important it was for them to play golf.
Can't understand why so many once prominent USian company have been run into the ground.
