I don't think it is such a grand business. It is probably a decent business, but there's no moat, and lots of other successful conglomerates, and it isn't a high margin business. I would rather see them buy Disney.
Mars is famously secretive but they operate more like a private equity firm that grows through acquisition rather than a candy company. Mars controls a surprising number of brands, including Kellogg's. Wikipedia tells me they are the global leader in pet food production and own some huge percentage of vet clinics.
