and part of democracy is that the electorate is allowed to choose to elect right-wing demagogues if they want to. Doing so isn't a danger to our democracy, though it is a certainly an awful choice to make IMHO.

Voting in a demagogue is certainly an exercise in democracy.

Voting him out, however, can often be an impossibility.

And therein lies the hole in your argument.

“The people” have often been known to vote for their own chains.

“… a Republic….. if you can keep it.”
