Seems odd that Buffett would leave these worthy causes in total, upon his passing. Interesting ending to this friendship.

Well, he didn't leave them in total, right? Buffett made a substantial donation less than a year ago. He just won't leave the Gates Foundation any money after his death. Buffett has expressed concerns regarding the Gates Foundation's increasing administrative costs and a decline in its appetite for risk-taking. Buffett can influence those things while he's alive, but not after his death. So his actions make sense in that regard.

In an interview in today's NYT, Gates said he was winding down he foundation because there is no way to create a charter that makes sense in the future, without actually knowing the future. So similar reasoning.

Or it could be a conspiracy the details of which will be revealed Real Soon Now™
