...for trying to shoot a cop. His companions also got loads of hard time:

https://www.justice.gov/opa/pr/leader-antifa-cell-...

Today, the Justice Department announced that eight North Texas Antifa Cell operatives were sentenced for their roles in rioting, using weapons and explosives, providing material support to terrorists, obstruction, and the attempted murder of an Alvarado police officer at the Prairieland Detention Center on July 4, 2025. This is the first sentencing of defendants affiliated with Antifa following President Donald J. Trump’s executive order designating the group as a Domestic Terrorist Organization in September 2025.

Benjamin Hanil Song, who was convicted of the attempted murder of a law enforcement officer, was sentenced to 100 years in prison. Together, the Prairieland terrorists received a combined sentence of 450 years in prison:

Maricela Rueda was sentenced to 70 years in prison;
Cameron Arnold was sentenced to 50 years in prison;
Savanna Batten was sentenced to 50 years in prison;
Zachary Evetts was sentenced to 50 years in prison;
Bradford Morris was sentenced to 50 years in prison;
Elizabeth Soto was sentenced to 50 years in prison; and
Daniel Rolando Sanchez-Estrada was sentenced to 30 years in prison.

These clowns and their "comrades" nationwide have allowed to get away with (metaphorically) murder for almost 10 years. Glad to see the DOJ/FBI stepping up arrests and prosecutions to this level.

From the NYT:

Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche celebrated the sentences in a post on social media, saying that “violent extremism has no place in our country.”

Unless, of course, when done by Trump supporters like when 5 people died, 140 police officers were attacked, sustaining injuries, 15 were hospitalized and, just for grins and giggles, they wanted to hang the VP. Then they get full pardons only to commit more crimes and wait for a $1.776 billion hand out for a job well done.

Good. And the right wing nutters who were plotting to kidnap and kill the Gov of Michigan are doing hard time too.

Members of Wolverine Watchmen Convicted on All Charges

“These defendants believed violence was an appropriate way to address an ideological grievance. Today’s verdict sends a clear message they were wrong. Violence is never the answer, and the FBI remains committed to investigating and holding accountable anyone who seeks to further an ideological cause through violence.

footnote, one of the men's conviction was overturned, a couple weeks ago. According to the Appeals Court, “kidnapping is not a violent felony,” What? Breaking into a house, and removing the legal occupant by force, is not "violent"?

Ah, that speaks to me - I loves me a good legal conundrum!

The opinion is linked below. But basically, under Michigan law a felony is defined to be a violent felony if one of the required elements to prove the crime is the use of force. In other words, is it a felony where in order to convict you of the crime, the prosecution must prove that the actions involved "the use, attempted use, or threatened use of physical force." If that's not an element of the crime, then the crime is not a violent felony.

Note that this is not specific to the actual circumstances of the case, but instead is determined by looking at the statutory definition of the crime. If a felony can be committed without using force and you happen to use force while committing that felony, that doesn't render the felony a "violent felony" for the purpose of determining whether it is a predicate felony. What matters is the definition, not the specific facts of your case.

Under Michigan law, kidnapping is defined in a way that does not require the use of force. In other words, you can kidnap someone without using force. That doesn't mean that you can't kidnap someone using force, or even that most kidnappings don't involve the use of force. Just that it's not a required element of the crime. Therefore, it's not a violent felony for purposes of the terrorism statute.

Yes a former US Marine, who was convicted of attempted murder of a law enforcement officer, was sentenced to 100 years in prison.
Eight protesters who Trump's DOJ accused of having "connections to antifa" were sentenced to decades.
Activists who didn’t plan the protest and left when asked still received 50-year terms!

This is what Fascism looks like.

Antifa has long been a target for Trump. In September he signed an executive order designating the far-left movement as a domestic terror organization.

Meanwhile pedophile Trump and his Epstein list pals continue to walk free.

Very true. But - at least he/she/it came out and admitted it's aligned with wannabe cop killers. And more and more of the board is more than fine with the direction of the democrat party (barreling towards Communism).

There's at least some honesty in doing that, unlike everything else they post.

Wow. I didn’t have “open support for people who want to kill police” on my bingo card for this board.

Oh puleeze, spare us those ‘poor little me’ crocodile tears. Stop trying to twist words to make it sound like you’re the victim.

Fact #1: No one on this board has stated that they have “open support for people who want to kill police.” That’s total bullshit and you know it.

You know what else is bullshit? A 30 year jail sentence for someone who was not accused of attempted murder or material support of terrorism, but was convicted of obstructing the investigation by moving a box of antifascist magazines after the protest. That, is bullshit.

In other cases, the length of sentences were egregious and unconstitutional.

Fact #2: No right winger on this board has ever said the violent 1/6 insurrectionists were wrong. Just legitimate political discourse, right? Nor have they said the pardons were wrong. Or the that the $1.776 billion slush fund was wrong. So I guess you support that violence.

Fact #3: No right winger on this board has said they want the Epstein files released because, as John Oliver puts it, Trump is mentioned in the Epstein Files more than Christ is mentioned in the Bible. So I guess this means you must support pedophiles.

So take your Bingo card and shove it.

Wow. Just one lie out of several.

-I've always said rioting was wrong. The reality is that libs on this board excused every GF riot in the universe and especially the COVID hypocrisy that went with it.
-I've always called for the release of the Epstein files (before any of you did)
-And The Felcher is pretty much out in the open now.

You're 0 for 3. Maybe try again, by using reality as your guide this time.

It's one of the eternal ironies of this board that you people always accuse others of you do yourselves.

Well, I didn’t have “open support for people who want to kill police” on my bingo card for a President of the US., but here we are!

Donald Trump has repeatedly offered open support for the criminals who attacked and assaulted police officers during the January 6, 2021, Capitol riot.
He has called them "unbelievable patriots," "great people," and "warriors," while also frequently referring to those who were imprisoned or charged as "hostages."
Additionally, Trump has described the day itself as a "day of love" and a "beautiful day!"

At least 97 individuals connected to the January 6 Capitol riot have been rearrested or charged with new crimes! So Cool!
New charges include extreme offenses such as child sexual abuse material (CSAM) possession, assault, domestic violence, grand larceny, and plotting to assassinate law enforcement or public officials!

And on top of the love, support and pardons Trump also wants to give these criminals piles of money! MAGA!

Getting back to the "kidnapping is not a violent crime" thing. How is someone taken against their will without the implicit THREAT of violence? Without the physical restraint or the threat of such one could just walk away. One would have to be willingly cooperative to the kidnapping for there to be absent at least the threat of harm. Is not physical restraint assault?

Seems pretty straightforward to me.

Is not physical restraint assault?

Almost always that is an assault, but it's the type of assault that most jurisdictions differentiate: there is often a "simple" assault that may include a relatively minor touching (possibly including confinement without injury or low injury) and an "aggravated" assault type that includes things like breaking bones, lacerations that require stitching, oftentimes using the threat of a gun regardless of injury may be included. It varies somewhat from state to state and 'violent' crime may be used to indicate that type of distinction.

Because you can use things other than the threat of violence to confine someone unlawfully.

Under Texas law, kidnapping can be accomplished by using fraud or deceit. As I read the statute, it would also cover non-violent coercion as well (a human trafficker grabs a worker's passport and refuses to give it back to them if they want to leave). And a non-trivial number of kidnappings involve family members unlawfully taking kids that they don't properly have custody of - where the child is not taken by force but by deceit and concealment.
