Let's show appreciation and gratitude towards each other's contributions on the board.

Why now?
Why did Bill Gates abruptly resign from boards of MSFT and BRK years ago? Then the Epstein news and Melinda divorce.
Why these abrupt resignations?

Connect the dots bud. No doubt Buffett is very disappointed in Bill, my guess, Buffett will amend his pledge and split the stock between Bill and Melinda. Today, Buffett has more respect for her, imo.

Abrupt?
Ms French Gates took three years after the divorce before resigning from the board. There aren't many folks work peacefully with their exes for that long, I imagine.
Besides, how does one resign in slow motion? Either you resign from something or you don't. How slowly would you prefer that she had done it?
There is no "here" here. Maybe look at some real scandals. It's much more societally useful than inventing new ones out of whole cloth.

Green Day said it best, welcome to brkville, where for many loyal old timers, everything always seems to be ok. Now that Epstein accidentally slipped on a rope of some sort in his cell
, that situation may have been put to bed?

He left Microsoft board because he broke company code with having an affair with a female staffer. I thought this was well known

He left Microsoft board because he broke company code with having an affair with a female staffer. I thought this was well known
And, IIRC, some allegations of having made inappropriate advances (communications) towards some other female staff, which is a bit worse.
That's a bad thing, assuming it's true.
However I don't assume deep evil in someone who takes a few meetings with someone who later turns out to have been a horrible criminal. Perhaps because it has happened to me and I don't feel deeply evil.

Did he have the affair with someone who worked at Microsoft or someone who worked at the foundation. What would having an affair with someone from his foundation have to do with being on the Microsoft board?

It was someone at Microsoft

Good morning, it should be noted that story is a year old and no doubt broke Buffett's heart. It remains to be seen IF Buffett amends his pledge plans in the 2006 letter. Who knows if the Epstein tapes and or other info will surface down the road?

In the mid-1970's when I was 6-ish years old or so. I went with my aunt, uncle and two cousins to a picnic/party held at one of the Cook County Forest Preserve areas in suburban Chicago. At this party there was a clown. Pogo the Clown. Now my older cousin and I didn't spend that much time with the clown. We were more into sports and running around so we did things like that. I don't even remember the clown except from family retellings. However, my younger cousin loved circuses, ballons, and clowns and stuff like that so he spent most of the day hanging around and being entertained by Pogo the Clown.
People old enough to remember likely know that Pogo the Clown was serial killer John Wayne Gacy. Tortured and killed dozens of boys/young men and buried the bodies around his house.
According to the logic of some of the more conspiracy minded folks here, if you "connect the dots", my little 4- or 5-year-old cousin was an accomplice to a serial killer.
