We are in a small population (16,000 people), large area community in the Ozark mountains, about 30 minutes from two larger cities.
From the East Gate to the West Gate is 16 miles, about 20-30 minutes drive. For years there has been a Dollar General store just outside each gate. There are about 6,000 people in the East side, 10,000 West side. The West side is older than the East side, and has a DG, Walgreens, a grocery store and Walmart all just outside the gate. The West side DG was only built 5-6 years ago, the other stores have been there for decades.
Last year a new building was built across the street from the DG at the East Gate. Then a sign went up, "DollarTree/Family Dollar opening soon."
So now on the East side we have two dollar/discount stores right next to one another. So either DLTR figured something about the population/growth in that area -- or their planning team was drunk.
