I think buybacks are great ... at a good price, of course.

But I think the formal announcement in near real-time that buybacks have begun is a terrible idea and sets a very bad precedent. There was no need for that announcement and associated SEC filing.

To repeat, there was no need to stipulate a 1.1 xs BV limit when the buyback was first initiated.

There was no reason to raise the buyback limit to 1.2 xs BV.

There was no reason to announce brk MAY act on a buyback that has already been authorized.

For the deep thinkers, and the slow learners, you know who you are, WHY has Buffett done this over and over again?

I agree there was no need for it. The buyback authorization was already in place.

It's a typical classy action by Berkshire. I admire them for it. And it won't make much economic difference, I think. Berkshire will go out of fashion again and will be able to buy $10s of billions worth again, like they've done before.
