The week's question
In March 2025, in the thread "Re: OT, out", Umm asked the members: "Do you think it is because America is made up of magical soil that makes businesses based in America magically profitable?" This week it is put to everyone again. The button below opens the small thread re-asking it - read what others have said so far, then give your own answer as an ordinary reply.

"Nobody says you need to ONLY invest using US $"

I know nothing about foreign currency. I do own non-USA ETF's.

My 1st instinct is that stock returns will be better than fixed income even taking into account that another 2007/2008 drop in market value occurs. It is pretty mindblowing to me the number of self-inflicted
headwinds that are forming against economies world wide, not just USA (and the USA is responsible for a lot of these headwinds).
And there is a non zero chance that America becomes a pariah to the rest of the World. At the very least, we are showing ourselves to be a very, very unreliable trading partner.

My port has about 10 years of short term fixed income instruments, so do have some ballast. But if a loaf of bread and a gallon of gas go to $20 each, then there is probably no place to hide.
