I have a different take possibly on the Apple Sale.

Buffet mentioned the 21% current tax rate and the high likelihood of higher taxes in the near future.

Maybe the sale is related to taxes on 2 fronts.

1) Potential for higher rates in the future combined with a range of fair value current valuation.

2) Maybe Berk needed a realized gain to offset the potential for being hit with the new 15% tax minimum and selling Apple filled this need.
