We were just lucky, I guess.
Or is Mad King Donald a f*cking bloated liar?

Agreed. Not that the people who need to hear it will hear it. They tune-in to OANN (because FOX is too liberal).
However, the legitimate media should be calling all this BS. Don't hedge, don't try not to offend. Just say "it's BS, and here's the proof".

They would, but they fear getting “Trumped”- ie. sued, death threats, bomb threats, extorted….
But yes, regardless of the reason, the legacy media has failed to do its job and will be left to talk to itself while the light fades and it dies in its own darkness.
Irony, thy name is WaPo.

Geez, these 401K self segregated liberals are truly in bubbles of one.
Ok fine, i'm calling in the national police.

To the 58 victims, eff you. One White Liberal didn't get shot at so all is ok. So will you people sit down, shut up, and vote Liberal because we shout "$15 an hour!!!!" for a god damn decade now.

Now, 58 European women are need to have some middle eastern "in them".
BAAAAAAAAAA punishment called in.

Is 58 shot above average? Checking some figures, they get about 3K per annum. That's about 100 per week (just rough numbers). I think maybe they are making a big deal about it because labor day, or perhaps because of the Felon's threat.
Not that this is minor. It's a problem that can only be addressed through the limiting of firearm possession. Which isn't happening in this country any time soon, and is a losing issue at the polls. So nothing will be done. And, per statistics, Chicago isn't even the most dangerous city.
It's all theater. Tragic, cynical theater.
If 22 kids (Sandy Hook) couldn't rally enough support to take some serious measures, I genuinely don't know what will. Maybe nothing. Maybe America loves its guns more than its children.

The media hysteria parade has been making a meal of Chicago for years. Chicago has a large population, which makes for large numbers of anything, and every news organization has a bureau there. So, it's easy for the media to generate "shocking", "alarming" hysteria about Chicago.
Here is something else to chew on: the mayors of DC, Chicago, and Baltimore, and LA, for that matter, are all people of color. As high as the murder rate is in Detroit, you don't here Trump say anything about it. The mayor of Detroit is white. Mayor Duggan is now running for Gov. Any bets that, the moment Detroit has a POC as mayor again, Trump will suddenly discover there is crime and violence in Detroit?

And, on the last go around, Trump commuted Kilpatrick's sentence to time served. That creep deserved every minute of that 28 years in the jug.

You wouldn't be implying that Dear Leader is racist, would you? /s
I guess a lifetime of acting like a racist makes it LOOK that way.

He is leveraging a base that started development in Nixon's "southern strategy", after Nixon saw how well Wallace polled in 68.
Reagan's rhetoric dripped racist dog whistles.
Rush, then Fox Noise, nurtured the bigot base.
I maintain that Trump's dalliance with the birthers was market research, to see if an openly racist campaign could get traction. Clearly, his takeaway was "yes". His actions are keyed to appeal to that straight, white, Christian, bigot, base.

Hi Bill. iirc, you left the Fool some years ago. I was booted, not for my use of politically tinged euphemisms, but for objecting to Mints' arrogant, high handed, way of managing the boards.

Or he saw a lever to dupe some of the folks in Detroit to vote for him.
Maybe it worked?
In 2020, Trump won 264,553 votes, 30.27%, in Wayne County.
In 2024, Trump won 288,860 votes, 33.61%, in Wayne County.

Shrew’d doesn’t seem to have the problem with hands on arbitrariness that the fool did.
I moved out to Macon (between Tecumseh and Clinton) just as COVID shut things down in late Feb ‘20. Married in Oct. ‘22.
Spend my summer days doing yardwork or at cabin up north.
You still where you were?

Ain't that the truth ! Kwame was the biggest scumbag in Michigan political history, so it
made perfect sense that the biggest scumbag in American political history released him.

Actually....
My first day on the Shrew'd METaR board, I offered the same advice, in reply to another post about citizenship, that I have offered on the Fool board: get your papers in order, and be careful about who you associate with.
Jeff flamed me, by name, for "politics".
I replied to another post with a bit of historical context.
InParadise flamed me for that.
I went from zero to doghouse in 12 hours.
Jeff posted words to the effect that Trump wants to throw Ukraine under the bus, to end the war fast, so he gets a Nobel, because he's but-hurt that Obama has one, and he doesn't. How is that NOT politics? And that is only one of a number of cases.
Then Jeff had the nerve to flame "new arrivals" for politics, again.
I'm done with that board.
You still where you were?
Yup. Thought about moving to a less congested area when I retired, but there are so many interesting things to do around here.
