From WaPo:
Former vice president Kamala Harris said in an interview that she “possibly” will run for president, adding an early twist to what is already likely to be a hard-fought and complicated race for the 2028 Democratic presidential nomination.
Not sure how I feel about that. Does she have a chance?
I expect at least Newsom, Pritzker, Whitmer, and probably Buttigieg to run in 2028.

Does Harris have a chance? In the primaries, sure. In the general-I’m concerned that she would run into the racist and misogynist problem.
All of those on your list would be excellent Presidents. The trick is winning the general election. (Which presupposes there will be an actual election and not a Putin/Kim style sham.) My gut tells me Newsom and Pritzker have the best shot. Unfortunately, white straight men have the best chances of winning in the current environment.

I hope not. She would have been great, but I don't think a second attempt will work out well.

I withhold judgment until I see someone else "forming a committee", or even talking about running. I've seen a few names mentioned, but I haven't heard from those actual persons. So you may as well be saying "Bill Gates would be a good choice". Has he said anything? Didn't think so...
Harris could be a good choice. She has experience, and -this time- would have time to rev-up an actual campaign. She'll never get MAGA, nor most republicans, but all she needs is the Dem base and the independents. If she can get Dems to show up, and swing the independents, she wins. The former may not be too difficult after 4 years of felonious rule. The latter will be based on how the little people have been affected by those four years. If she goes off on pronouns, she's doomed.

I guess I agree. Her time has passed. But perhaps an AG pick for some future dem POTUS. Or even on the SCOTUS should the dems ever get another chance at a nomination.

I would not leave Letitia James, Cory Booker, or Tim Walz off the list of potential 2028 candidates.

Booker, sure, Walz, maybe (but if Kamala runs, a bit awkward!), but Letitia James?

Dems need to run a straight white male. Sorry to have to say that, but
that is the current reality of America. They are taking a huge risk if
they run a Black female, or a gay White man. None of that has anything to
do with competence, or being able to pull a Country together.
Rural white America does not have room in their heart to accept a Black
lady or a gay man as President. Rural white America, population-wise, is
itself a minority. But they ( as a collective ) only see things thru
their sheltered little world. And these BFE rural States have an
outsized impact on the makeup of the Senate. These sparse, empty
areas get 2 Senators per State, just like densely populated, large States
like California.
America needs to get off the MAGA train, Dems need to campaign on
issues that are probably going to be hittin hard in 2026, things like
inflation, affordable health-care. Trans rights and other niche type
issues could very well get another MAGA elected, if emphasized.
Sucks, but that is the world we're living in.
( assuming the Trump junta hasn't rigged it so that voting even matters,
and that is no small assumption )

Add to that assessment the 14% of the US voters that are latinos who voted for trump because many are (and.or) Catholic anti-gay/anti-abortion, macho males, migrants from communistic latin american nations, and a substantial portion that are prejudiced against black people...actually any people darker than them.
Also... lot of EuroMexicans (spaniards) are prejudiced against native Mexicans (Los Indios).

*****
Keep reminding them they are a minority. Treat them that way. Then wonder why you get your butts kicked in elections and your SCOTUS ...7-2.....was put there by Rural Whites - not you :)
OR maaaaaaybe ask why many countries that went Trump -= - went OBAMA also ;)
But that would mean you like democracy - and want to win elections within democracy.
You Sheeple - don't want to.

A charismatic black guy might do. Worked for Obama. Minority turn-out can be huge. A white dude is less interesting to them since white dudes seldom do anything for them.

The Big O is only 64, which counts as "young" for a USian pol these days.
Ponder this. Big O announces "if Trump runs again in 28, so will I". Watch the fur fly.

"Add to that assessment the 14% of the US voters that are latinos who voted for trump because many are (and.or) Catholic anti-gay/anti-abortion, macho males"
That matches up spot-on with about 3/4 of the Latino's I grew up with.
Went to school with a lot of them, met others as an adult.
One of my Mexican-American friends became a UAW auto worker later in life.
In 2016, at a campaign speech in metro Detroit, Trump stated that the domestic auto manufacturers should ship their jobs south of the border, if the UAW workers carried out their threats to go on strike. Had a conversation with my friend about it, pointing out that Trump basically said screw you, UAW Member. I pointed out how this gives GM leverage over the UAW, if Trump were to be elected. I pointed out how this would lead to less
job security for the UAW.
And none of that mattered, my friend, and a whole lot of other UAW members,
were all in on Trump. My friend said there was no way in hell he could vote for a woman ( HRC ).
( I also have some Latino acquaintances who despise Trump )

Also in Detroit, in 2016, when then Ford Motor CEO Mark Fields was talking about moving Focus production from Wayne, MI, to Mexico, Trump said that, if Ford did that, he would put a 25% tariff on those cars and no-one would buy them.

Trump would be afraid to debate Obama. Obama would destroy him in a debate.

Trump would be afraid to debate Obama. Obama would destroy him in a debate. Really make Trump's head explode: Obama says "the ACA was an imperfect half measure. we'll go all in and enact Medicare for all". Think about it. Right now, we are paying for the Medicare bureaucracy, VA medical bureaucracy, fifty state Medicaid bureaucracies, and however many private insurance company bureaucracies. How many paper shuffling bureaucrats are you willing to pay for, to get a cut stitched up?

I remember her laffing out loud, when Trump rolled out that "eating dogs and cats" nonsense.
Typical "JC". He can dish out abuse and threats all day, but he can't take any pushback.

That was obvious, but not how MAGA saw it. The RW media told them how brilliant Mr. Weave was and they believed it.

The dem primary between her and Hair Gel Newsom is going to be epic.

I don't remember an Obama/Romney debate. I do remember a Bush/Gore debate. Gore came on like a Harvard debate team member, which he had been. Very stiff and formal. Bush sounded like a guy sitting around shooting the breeze, in comparison. To a lot of people, Bush probably sounded more approachable.

Oh great another rich guy in the Epstein Pedofiles for POTUS.That wasn't the point. You can speculate all you like about whom you want. But until they indicate any intentions, it is pointless.
However, apparently Newsome follows me (somehow?), because he just said he might be interested in running. So, NOW we can talk about him as a candidate.

Sad but true. But to buck up the Progressives who will be disappointed by that, I’d suggest Pete as VP. It’s important to speak to them, if only to give them a reason to show up. I’d campaign with Newsome (the seemingly logical contender this far out) on the obvious national platforms, and with Buttigieg in dense, urban areas where he is unlikely to get national coverage but would garner strong local coverage in print and traditional television.

Of course because as we are witnessing, only entitled straight white people with penises can handle presidenting.
