Except for the fact that this makes Superman an illegal immigrant. True, very few of today's illegal immigrants are literal aliens that arrive by spacecraft from an exo-solar planet. But his story does parallel theirs in that he is a non-naturalized person who is present in the contrary in violation of our immigration laws.
Ehhh. Not really. I don't recall Superman swimming the Rio Grande, trashing somebody's border ranch and settling into some town where he goes on to rack up DUIs and other assorted criminal charges. Don't think he stole anyone's identity either.
BTW, my family went and saw the movie this weekend - and I think many conservatives are largely missing an opportunity in getting upset over this point, rather than fully embracing the film as advancing their preferred framing of immigration. That discussion involves spoilers, so maybe we'll return to it in a few weeks when more folks have seen it.
To the extent that "conservatives are getting upset" it's more about one of the Gunns saying something about "It's not the American way, it's the Human way" or equivalent thing. I've never been a DC comics guy - Spider Man was my hero - so I'll likely wait until it gets to Prime Video.
DC comic movies with the exception of the first Wonder Woman have been...not so hot. Glad you enjoyed this one.
