After the 2020 presidential election, House Speaker Mike Johnson echoed some of the wilder conspiracy theories pushed by then-president Donald Trump to explain away his loss in 2020. Johnson voted against certifying Biden’s win even after the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol. So it's no surprise that he taken aim at the U.S. justice system.
U.S. House Speaker Mike Johnson assailed the hush money case against Donald Trump Tuesday as an illegitimate “sham,” becoming the highest-ranking Republican to show up at court, embrace the former president’s claims of political persecution and attack the U.S. system of justice.
It was a remarkable moment in modern American politics: The House speaker amplifying Trump’s defense and turning the Republican Party against the federal and state legal systems that are foundational to the U.S. government and a cornerstone of democracy.
Johnson, who is second in line for the presidency, called the court system “corrupt.”
He didn't bother actually going into the courtroom but just did his little public dance for the Orange Turd, the price he paid for Trump keeping others from joining MTG and ousting him from his speakership.
Johnson complained that the trial "is not about justice. It’s all about politics.”
And then other republican members of the House filmed a political commercial in the courthouse asking for money.
Yes, folks... it's a cult bent on putting a wannabe autocrat in the White House.

And...he's right.
There's no crime here. That's true for pretty much all the trumped-up nonsense cases that, had any of them been brought against a democrat...would have had you people rioting in the streets.

Falsifying business records isn't a crime? Sexual assault isn't a crime? Taking top secret government intelligence documents -- including military and nuclear capabilities information -- isn't a crime? Inciting an attack on the United States Capitol isn't a crime?
Whodathunkit?
By the way, Democratic Senator Robert Menendez is on trial on federal corruption charges. Democratic Rep Henry Cuellar faces federal bribery charges. And the president's own son is about to go on trial for federal gun charges.
But you know what? Democrats aren't crying about "all the trumped-up nonsense cases" against democrats.
And House and Senate Democrats are not showing up at courthouses or holding press conferences to call the United States court system “corrupt”.
Because they're not in a cult.

You are demonstrating (repeatedly) why we say it's a cult. You can't come to terms with the most obvious facts about Trump's criminality and corruption. He's not your POTUS candidate, he's your guru and you must defend him at all costs. How do you deal with the cognitive dissonance?

I must have missed the assault charge as a part of these court proceedings. Or are you making things up again?

An open minded person can take a look at the facts and see the potential for a crime, given the law. I think Cohen being convicted should throw any doubt about potential out the window. We let the jury decide, but we still have opinions. My opinion is that if the prosecutor can get the jury to understand some intricacy, the jury goes with him. Everyone but zealots knows he's guilty, but can you get the jury to follow an intricacy? Good question.

He also brings up classified documents in the same sentence. Are you being deliberately thick again? He's not limiting it to these court proceedings and alluding to the pattern and practice of Trump's total disregard for the law that's not in his favor.
