Trump's former White House press secretary Stephanie Grisham just said in her DNC speech that Trump privately mocks his supporters. He told her his supporters are basement dwellers.

Remember, she's not a Democrat, and he chose her to be his press secretary, a pretty high position of power. "Grisham said that she used to be not just a Trump supporter but also a "true believer" who became part of Trump's family and spent major holidays with him."

It's not surprising he said this. He calls his supporters "poorly educated" as well. If you still vote for him after finding out he called you a basement dweller, you're in a cult.
