Republicans, the party of personal and fiscal responsibility.

Per the analysis by Open the Books, in September, the Pentagon spent $2 million on Alaskan king crab, $6.9 million on lobster tail, $15.1 million on ribeye steak, and $1 million on salmon. Dessert included 272 orders of doughnuts for $139,224 and ice cream machines for $124,000.

Just for the record, that’s over $500 for each order of donuts.

Apparently, Republicans do not have an affordability concern.

No worries, DOGE will be all over this. Er...won't they?

Republicans, the party of personal and fiscal responsibility.

They campaign on that. But when has it ever been true? At least in my lifetime.

Reagan tripled the national debt. Every Rep ever since has increased the deficit (with the Felon being -by far- the "winner" in this area). Every Dem since then has reduced the debt, and one even created a surplus briefly.

No democrat has ever reduced the debt.

I think you mean Democrats have reduced the annual deficit. The total debt keeps increasing, noticeably faster under Republican rule.

You are correct. I was thinking "deficit", but typed "debt". My bad.

I responded to Dope already, but now that I think about it...Clinton reduced the debt slightly. He ran a surplus for 3 years. So he reduced the public debt for those three years. If you google it, there are several sources (including Wikipedia) that will confirm that.

Yes, and Shrub took that and started with ‘We can afford a tax cut”, which was followed by “We need a tax cut” at the first sign of economic weakness. Every Republican administration since has decided “we WILL have a tax cut” whether it’s good for the country or not.

Yes, and Shrub took that and started with ‘We can afford a tax cut”,

And a dutiful Alan Greenspan defined paying down the Federal debt as a problem, due to a lack of floods of Treasury paper.
