BTW, there are non-government vehicles that pay more than 2%. I think the Fidelity money market fund pays 4-5%.

What Mark wrote, plus your money market is likely invested in government bills and such.

My solo 401k uses FDRXX (old version of SPAXX):
FDRXX - Fidelity® Government Cash Reserves 4.04%
