Today ( in Australia)is the 3rd anniversary of Manlobbi’s 1st post on this illustrious board. I am forever grateful for the energy, effort & sleepless hours cranking out, testing & rewriting the code required to resurrect this gathering place for all things “Berkshire”.
This bulletin board is so much more than an investment website with long term virtual friendships developed from around the world.
With almost 18,000 posts in 3 years , I would guess it is one of (if not the most) active financial web sites.
Many thanks & a raised glass 🥂to Manlobbi👏

Well said!

Well, certainly more than the old Fool Berkshire board, which hasn't had a post in about a month. And that wasn't about Berkshire.

I can't recall how or when I first became aware of Shrewd'm. I just know it spared me from the disappointment of checking mungofitch.com every day and finding nothing new.

And I am glad I helped bringing that chap back instead of him retiring from posting (Julian surely did his part too). Big thanks to Julian for making it possible, big thanks to Jim for using it.

Thank you, ciao, for your generosity, not just with this thoughtful toast but in your lovely optimism and positive effect here throughout the years. My gosh, it is wonderful in itself that we can already start to say "throughout the years"!
It has frankly been an honor and a joy to see this message board spontaneously become filled, and not only that, but grow and thrive over the past three years.
The expanded scope of boards frequently posted on is increasing each year (Retirement Investing has recently become very popular for example, there is the Non-US Stocks board, Falling Knives, and many others increasing their traffic). Of course, value investing is the gravitational center and far-reaching interest that we share passionately in common.
The entire purpose of programming this was, from the outset, to resurrect your favorite cafe, which had the familiar place abandoned with "do not enter" signs stuck over it ruthlessly and suddenly. Looking at that, and seeing the trauma about to unfold, and half of the authors having already lost hope, I got to work without hesitation.
Sometimes friendships can feel strangely fragile and disappear when conditions change, similar to moving country. The friendships here one might describe as both visceral and cerebral, but with a twist of being often brutally honest - which I think we value incredibly. That honesty and depth of exchange is often hard to find in our broader social life, and what makes Shrewdm' extra special, especially with information exchange (both reading and publishing) incentivized outside of Shrewd'm to shorter and shorter formats (which is not ideal for the intellectual/cultural progress of humanity).
I am personally just as glad as you are that this community has found its way back together. I put genuine love into the programming, but the real magic is the posts, the energy, the insights, and the friendships that blossom here every day. You're exceedingly right that it's much, much more than a financial site.
Thank you to everyone who has offered support with a special mention to Oscar255414.
And thank you to every single author who makes Shrewd'm the #1 shrewd and merry value-investing community.

Manlobbi, I can't thank you enough for your effort in keeping this community together. It provides both comradery, intellectual challenge ass well as insights which translate directly to financial benefits.
While some might think it a bit premature, I'd like to wish everyone a wonderful holiday season (complete with Santa Clause rally :-) as well as a coming year of good health, happiness, prosperity and the time to enjoy it.
