Two individuals needed medical attention during the Trump rally in North Carolina this afternoon -- one reportedly requiring CPR -- and they still had a better day than Dementia Don.

Interviewing rallygoers before the event, a ten-year-old boy told a reporter: “Let’s put Fani and Nikki in jail.” He mispronounced "Fani," of course. Evidently they start 'em young and nasty in North Carolina.

As a sign of what was to come, the man leading the Pledge of Allegiance got the words wrong, then the woman signing the National Anthem also forgot the words.

Trump told the crowd that America was great "three years ago."

Umm, well, sure: Joe Biden was president three years ago.

Trump said, "We will expel the wallmongerers."

Rather than say "migrant crime," Trump said "migrant kime."

Trump called Mark Robinson, GOP candidate for North Carolina Governor, “MLK Jr. on steroids.” Robinson, a Holocaust denier, has said that “so many freedoms were lost during the Civil Rights Movement,” and referred to the movement as the “‘so-called’ Civil Rights Movement.”

Robinson wants to make abortion illegal under any circumstances, beginning with conception.

Trump could not pronounce "Venezuela."

In the most glaring brain freeze moment, Trump said: "Just recently heard that Saudi Arabia and Russia will be re— be— do— <befuddled slurring>, ooaahhhh. https://twitter.com/Acyn/status/176402482525571092...

Jeez, he's not even under the pressure of a debate stage. He's got almost nine months of campaigning ahead and if today is any indication, he's not going to make it to November.

This is a good example of what I despise about social media. If you're trying to document and share how someone's mind appears to be short-circuiting and having a communication breakdown, taking a sample of the problem and clipping it to SIX SECONDS then framing it for a repeating loop to distribute on a medium where pop musicians do the same thing with looping audio clips and listeners are USED to that "dub effect" completely defeats the purpose. Even though I have zero trouble believing that SPECIFIC six seconds was unaltered, the failure to inclde more audio BEFORE and AFTER the focus of the clip and adding the wierd music underneath just makes the entire clip look and sound fabricated.

I know people don't have the time to listen to an entire 50 minute stump speech of the typical dribble of a Trump stump rant for "full context", but looping 6-second soundbytes is too far on the opposite extreme to cement the point with people already jaded and cynical from this form of media.

C-SPAN always has the full video and audio available and it's easy to find and search. And regardless of the length of that "sentence," his brain was clearly misfiring there and what you hear in the preceding sentences is Trump lying, claiming that the U.S. is no longer the leader in crude oil production [The U.S. has surpassed a production rate of 13 million barrels per day (bpd) of crude oil, setting a record for the highest production level by any country.] and then rambling about begging for oil from other countries and the green new deal.

As for the "the weird music underneath," that was either added by C-SPAN or the Trump campaign.

And while you may "despise" what's going on in social media, democrats better understand that this isn't a level playing field anymore. Trump -- and Fox "News" -- changed all that. Fox "News" runs hours long free commercials for the Trump campaign daily and uses "SIX SECOND" sound bytes of president Biden all the time.

Worrying about "playing fair" is a fool's errand when you're playing against a sociopathic misfit hellbent on forming an autocracy.

I'm not counting on a level playing field. I'm not expecting anything on TikTok or Instagram to convert a single voter still claiming to be Republican from voting for Trump. What I am counting on are enough messages reaching former Republican independents to flip them into actively voting for Biden. Some of these people might be so fed up with the idea of BOTH candidates being so old that they figure they're both dottering old fools, I might as well vote for the one closer to what I'm used to voting for. A larger share are possibly those who are well off enough to cynically evaluate the odds between a) the payoff of putting Trump back in to hopefully get another tax cut versus b) the damage of putting someone so mentally incompetent and corrupt back in power to unleash his D-team of grifters and flunkies on the entire federal government and likely never leave office again without violence.

These people may be incredibly cynical and selfish enough to consider the choice (the same choice many of them made in 2016...) but they also are likely to have enough media savvy to draw the appropriate message from a 15-20 second sound byte that doesn't sound manipulated by "the other guys" to drive home the message that Trump is truly incoherent even without Commander in Chief levels of stress at work. That chance is lost if the (valid) anti-Trump messages sound as manipulated as the (insane) pro-Trump messages.

Fortunately for those of us who think he's full of s*$t and then some, he's his own worst enemy (as well as one of the US of A's worst enemies). From March to November is a long time for him to reveal his true awful nature to just enough more people for him to barely lose the election (again).

If he would just shut his mouth from now until November, except for a few Chauncey Gardner-esque vague platitudes about springtime, he would be a shoo-in to win. But he can't do that.

at the other end of the spectrum, we have The Atlantic devoting an entire issue to the dangers of re-electing trump.
this is partly, if not entirely, due to the passive\apathethic tone of most centrist media in 2016,2020 (even if its now reaching fewer people).

likewise, i am not convinced there are enough Independents or Republicans to read The Atlantic, much less have heard of it, to result in a significant actualized biden votes.
so the point is, every media outlet big or small, biased garbage or not, has to be pulled into play.

(frankly, i now find the anti-trump crowd who were unable to grok who he is before 2016 a complete mystery, including the many who worked for him and were quit\fired. and there seems to be quite a few public figures who flopped again and now are looking to be his 'employee\partner' in 2024.
bit by bit, we have to assume the sheer volume of media does get the marginal trump voter to show up. in red+purple states, there are dozens of local ads every hour on local TV where every GOP candidate mentions trump multiple times...effectively turning every broadcaster into Fox News.)
