In her newsletter, Mary Geddry reacted to Pete Hegseth’s sloppily worded, unintended suggestion that the United States was allowing a Qatari military base in a Western state.

Hogwash. It was clear to me it was facilities and since I knew we do this and they train here, and we do training with them over in other countries too, that's just bunk.
One time the Navy was having an exercise in the computer on the Mediterranean. Some of the ships and arms were actually in the sea in the area. The results of the exercise would assist your career. Well, the opponent (another American Officer) decided to take everything he had and fire it simultaneously at the aircraft carrier. Just focus on the one target. He took it out (on the computer).
The result was an upset, and somehow the effect of the games didn't affect anyone's career, but it was a big deal. And the Chinese took notice.
After that, the Chinese strategy over in Lake China (Southern China Sea) was to have hundreds of launchers and rockets. They're gonna have a thousand rockets, etc., headed for each ship - that seems to be the plan. An effective plan. AFAIK we still don't have any really good defense for that. Anybody?

Admit that that era is over, same as with battleships after aircraft carriers, same was with trench warfare after the tank was invented, same as with muzzle loaders after the repeating rifle, same as with stone castles after the trebuchet came along. And, for good measure, just to beat the dead horse a bit more, same as with spears after the bow and arrow.
The obvious solution is “don’t be there with that.” If you must, then “be there with something else.”
