The Secret Service, along with NYPD and the NYS Police have discovered an operation apparently capable of chaos far beyond masking swatting calls to potentially disabling cell phone towers, disrupting emergency services and enabling spies, hackers and organized crime.

The new unit traced swatting signals to an apartment just outside New York City. Then they found another rented space. Then, more. No one was inside.

They had found a vast and stunning network of more than 100,000 SIM cards and 300 SIM servers – the largest seizure ever of such devices by the Secret Service – all concentrated within 35 miles of New York City.

The servers could be commanded remotely to create massive amounts of phone traffic in a stealthy and unceasing operation that switched out SIM cards quickly to keep federal law enforcement off its trail.

The hidden electronic maze was so powerful, it could have sent an encrypted and anonymous text to every human being in the United States within 12 minutes, McCool said. It could have overwhelmed cell towers, toppling New York City’s cell service and preventing every Manhattan resident from accessing Google Maps.

The electronic safe houses were found in places including Armonk, New York; Greenwich, Connecticut; Queens, New York; and across the river in New Jersey – essentially forming a circle around New York City’s cellular network infrastructure, officials briefed on the investigation said.

The network has been taken down and is no longer a threat to New York, law enforcement officials said. But “It would be unwise to think that there’s not other networks across the country.”

The Secret Service unit is now working to identify other similar networks.

“The potential for disruption to our country’s telecommunications posed by this network of devices cannot be overstated,” US Secret Service Director Sean Curran said.

I wonder how many power, water, transportation and other similar services have already been compromised and are just waiting for a signal to bring them down?

"...the surge of swatting calls against high-ranking officials posed a real and “imminent threat” to the Secret Service’s protective operations..."
Seems like a reasonable fit for the secret service. (unlike counterfeiting, which I could never figure out)

Swatting is the act of making false, high-priority emergency calls to lure a large law enforcement response to a victim's location for harassment, intimidation, or retaliation. These dangerous hoax calls can create trauma for the victim and divert critical public safety resources from actual emergencies, sometimes with deadly consequences. Targets can include public figures, schools, or private homes, with perpetrators often using technology to conceal their identity and make the false reports more convincing.

Odd but who would buy and install tons of equipment to do this? I am thinking no one. We get false flags endlessly.

Spankee supporters such as Putin, etc. Why? To overthrow the US govt with a false flag operation and create a weak dictatorship that can be easily replaced with a "more acceptable" one to the real dictators.

I can think of a half dozen nation states that would, along with a couple of crazy billionaires. Also The Penguin, the Joker, Green Goblin, Mysterio, and several others. We only know the ones they’ve made movies about, but think of all the others that haven’t been uncovered yet.

Also Dick Cheney.

Hold on Venezuela....right? Am I wrong?

Hurricane season officially ends November 30, but the probabilities of a storm decline significantly before then. Grenada was invaded October 25th.

US courts have decreed that the US assets of Citgo Petroleum, a subsidiary of PDVSA, be auctioned off to pay claims by US companies, including Conoco Phillips, for expropriated property and unpaid debts.

The decision on who wins the auction has been put off, to October 28th.

US judge proposes to extend Citgo auction timeline to late Oct

Counterfeiting was their original job. During the Civil War counterfeiting was so common in threatened to destroy the federal economy, hence the need for drastic measures. The presidential protection gig didn't come until later, probably because they had the best name.
