Yup, just when you thought it was safe to go into the water, the show Boop appears on Broadway.

This is a show based on the Betty Boop character which was a cartoon sensation back in the 1930's (and continued to show up on TV back when I was a kid during the 1950's (eg: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WzBqPXRaWVE)

Some of the reviews beat the show up over the plot. Geeze, this is not Gone With the Wind we are talking about, it's a story about a cartoon character (and frankly, unless Othello is your passion, the plot was not that b ad).

That said, the show is remoniscent of a Fred Astair meets Esther Williams (sans agua) movie with a cast of about 25. The dancing is great, the singing fantastic (but I didn't remember a single melody) and the lighting supurb. I haven't been to such a feel-good play since seeing Moulin Rouge a couple of yearsz ago just as COVID was easing up.

It was a very entertaining afternoon.

Jeff

Betty Boop as a theatre show?

Nice round trip, as Betty Boop was created as a parody of a stage actress.

Wow, this is way more risque than the stuff we watched as kids on TV. Are you sure it isn't a "bootleg" Boop video of some sort?
