Christian Nationalism is Authentically Christian ' And According to a New Poll Most White Evangelicals are Supporters

I've belabored the point here at RD before, and it's worth stating again: the political activities and ideology were an integral part of our religion, just as our Christian faith informed and infused our rabid right-wing politics. American evangelicals are socialized via homeschooling, Christian schools, churches, and the subculture in general to apply the Bible and Christian teachings to every aspect of their lives. That includes attempting to implement a theocratic policy agenda, so that our nation might be 'blessed' for its 'obedience to God's authority.'

It's been frustrating watching pundits actively struggle not to understand this over the last few years. Not wanting to face that White evangelical support for Donald Trump does, and always did, make perfect sense with respect to White evangelicals' version of the Christian faith, many have clung'against the available evidence'to the corollary notions that 'real' Christians could never be authoritarians and insurrectionists, and that Trump-loving Christian nationalists must not darken the doors of churches very often. The data tell a very different story.

Fortunately, Christianity is dying. When I was in college, only about 10% of the population was atheist. Now it's nearly 1/3. If we can hang on another couple of decades, it will probably be the majority. And then all hopes the xians have for a theocracy will be dashed.

Though it will never be gone. Alas.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but that sounds like a first step. Step two would be - Organize? (I don't know.) When I was 16 a friend told me he'd been warned to watch out for the Southern Baptists. I noted years ago that they were responding "justices" as the reason for their vote in exit polls. The IRS doesn't want to investigate and rescind tax exemptions. So we have no teeth. I have no real idea how to deal with this.

Right wing groups seem to coalesce behind populists at times though. That's the rub.

But what about the other major religions and new offshoots of existing religious cults?

Is WCN (White Christian Nationalism) dying or growing in conviction/strength, if not numbers? It may not be bible based but it certainly has its true believers.

1.)Keep ostracizing, talking down to, ridiculing. Make sure to also pursue socio economic policies that pushes people into corners. (Gang members - many times joined gangs just for a sense of belonging


2.)Examine what causes so many people in a rather prosperous country to go that way and maybe deal with it.


It's my hope you go with #1.


My only regret is that the Christians in America don't unite with Muslims in America.
