A piece I saw on the wire earlier, about the negotiations in Islamabad, said that Kushner and Witkoff want to pick up where they left off in February, with Iran having U enriched enough for commercial power generation, but no more. Vance is taking a maximalist position of no U at all. While the US team can't make up it's mind what it wants, the threats and abuse from Trump the Conqueror continue.

Trump issues chilling new ultimatum for Iran to make a peace deal as talks on brink of collapse

Donald Trump has warned Iran that it should strike a deal within a day or he'll end the ceasefire and launch a new wave of strikes.

'We're going to find out in about 24 hours. We're going to know soon,' Trump told the New York Post after dispatching Vice President JD Vance to Pakistan to lead peace talks.

At least, the Israelis haven't tried to kill the Iranian negotiating team, yet.

I can't tell who is Baghdad Bob.

The USian media said Iran only sent two people to Islamabad. Meidas Touch claims the Iranian delegation is far larger than the US delegation: Vance, his wife, Witcoff and Kushner, no professional diplomats, vs Iran bringing a flock of top people.

One thing in this piece I can believe: Trump the Magnificent bragging about all the tankers heading to the US, to bid against USians for the product that USian big oil has to sell. I'm sure US big oil is very pleased with the return they are getting on that $1B bribe they paid in 2024. (for those who didn't notice, WTI has been in a downtrend since 2022)

Apparently, the IAF has several 707s converted to tankers, so, theoretically, they could hit Islamabad, just as they hit Qatar.

After reading this, I had to stop laffing, before I could post it.

What if Trump actually wanted this outcome in Hormuz all along?

But what if the conventional wisdom is wrong?

That’s the hypothesis of one of the world’s shrewdest and most respected analysts of geopolitics and energy, Cambridge University political economy professor Helen Thompson. In a couple of recent broadcasts, she has argued that this entire outcome — including the apparent closure of the Strait of Hormuz — may not be a bug of the war at all, but a deliberate feature.

The Iran war may be “part of an attempt by the Trump administration to reset the energy part of the world geopolitically,” she told Bloomberg Podcasts.

That, says Thompson, is the consistent “thread” through the second Trump administration’s foreign policy — including the intervention in oil-rich Venezuela and its attempts to destabilize resource-rich Greenland. It is also, she points out, part of the geopolitical blueprint that the administration laid out last fall.

This doesn’t leave the rest of the world with many good options. Either the Iranian regime has an accidental stranglehold over the Strait of Hormuz, or it achieved this with the deliberate connivance of the Trump administration.

They said it out loud, two years ago. "Energy domination".
