I don't recall that Israel has ever acknowledged that they have nukes. But this was a tacit statement that they do. Not that many people didn't think so anyway. Didn't they do a test detonation somewhere in the Indian Ocean where no one could see it, so as to keep it secret? I seem to recall that from about 40 years ago. They denied it, but both the Soviets and the US detected it.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel took the highly unusual step on Sunday of suspending a far-right minister from his government, after the minister said that dropping a nuclear bomb on Gaza and killing everyone there was 'one way' of dealing with the threat from Hamas.

Nuking Gaza would not be good optics. It would work, to some extent, but likely create more enemies for Israel in the process. You also probably don't want to unleash a nuke so close to your own territory unless your situation was dire.
