The US bases in Europe, put a lot of money into the local economies. More US bases in Greenland would do the same for that economy. Why would the Danes or Greenlanders, be against that?
The one thing the Pirate King can't do, unless he has full control of the island, is steal it's resources. The Danes would not stand for that.
