It would appear that the car board here is dead. My question is, has anyone utilized Costco to purchase a vehicle? If so, what advantages did you gain in the process and did you have any regrets looking back? In a nutshell, what are the pro's and con's.

Good morning, get the price from Costco , then go to the dealer and try to buy it 3 % lower. BTW, if you aren't that familiar with the process, the extended warrantee has a huge mark up. 7 year 100,000 mile is pretty standard. Depending on what make you are buying, message me and I'll give you the number to call of a dealer who will sell the extended warrantee with a very low mark up. Good luck.

Why not do like you do at Costco or the Apple Store?
Walk in, pay what they have put on the sticker or label?
You'll be out in no time, "no haggling".

What's the huge mark up on Apple Care and do we negotiate that?
"I dont want that back and forth game".

IF your dealer wants 3500$$ a car for the extended warrantee per car, for three cars, and I make a call and buy it for 1050$$ per car, that's a very productive use of my time. I must not have your kind of money, enjoy it in good health. My buddy ran a car dealership for 30 years, so I was taught a few tricks in the game.

I wrote a rather long response and lost it so here's the short version: yes, for a Honda and a Subaru, both pre-pandemic. The process is easy and there's no pressure to buy. The cost is pre-negotiated and they won't negotiate down but did offer certain incentives (discount for buying off the lot, they also offered some advertising dollars if purchased by month end... but again, this was pre-pandemic, pre-supply chain issues). The only real "con" is, with time and persistence, you may be able negotiate a lower price on your own but for me, my time is valuable and I prefer to avoid the aggravation. Some people like a price battle, some don't.
And contrary to what hclasvegas wrote, Costco does not "give you a price" but gives your contact info to a local dealer who arranges an appointment at their dealership.
In my experience with warranties, they're not usually worth it. We did buy (negotiated down) one on the Subaru because of all the cameras and expensive headlamps but have never used it. Back when I sold extended warranties (not cars) at my first job out of college, their invoice cost was one penny.

I wanted to buy our ID4 from Costco, but it wasn't available through them. At least not at the time. The car before that we spent half a day of "I'll have to get my manager to approve this deal". Hated it. Just tell me the price, and I can make my decision. I bought my second car (Saturn) that way, and it was great. In and out in a couple of hours. Our third car was bought via the credit union, which enabled us to go through the fleet department. Again, no haggling. Here's the price, sign on the line.**
If Costco offers that sort of hassle-free environment, and has the vehicle I want, I would definitely go through them. I don't know for a fact, but I suspect they also go through the fleet department.
**The only wrinkle was someone came in and said "do you want an undercoating for $X". We said "no", and they went away.
