I didn't know this...they were deregulated about 40 years ago. Since then, safety has been in fourth place. Not exaggerating. It's actually #4 on the list of priorities that is published. There have been several bad accidents, and it seems inevitable that there will be a catastrophic one with all the cuts being made, and the lack of oversight. Just a question of time until a "bomb train" wipes out part of a city.

I hear deregulation is GREAT! That way large corporations can make more money while the general population bears all the risk.
