Rep. Tim Burchett (R-Tennessee) just made the comment on C-SPAN that NYC elected a communist for its democratic mayoral candidate and predicted the imminent and certain decline of NYC as a result. Mamdani is technically a socialist not a communist. <smh>

I'm so happy he won -- but I wonder if he's like Bernie Sanders - someone who is USED by affluent White Liberals to pretend they aren't corporate hack sellouts.
Remains to be seen if the Establishment does this guy in and Adams or Cuomo makes it in still.
I hope the Socialist fellow gets in. It means that IF he's real - upper income New Yorkers get to pay more of their fair share --which is lovely and as a side note, many socialist policies actually hurt people they are supposed to help - which will cause mayhem - which is violence - which is beautiful.
I'm displeased that he's being a bit more demure on his Pro Palestine stuff -- but maybe, if he has a chance to win - he needs to make nice with certain factions in NYC so i'm giving a pass on that.
But even to get this far - i'm impressed.
Hopefully the demography in Russia that i cited here keeps going - and aspiring Russian leaders see Mr Mamdani and realize they can win too.

The biggest dividing line based on this map is that Cuomo did best in neighborhoods with the most people who have cars while Mamdani won among people who take the subway. A more complete story is here.
