This time in Seattle.
https://www.yahoo.com/news/articles/progressive-ed...Katie Wilson pulled ahead of a moderate Democrat in a campaign that focused on the cost of living in one of America’s most-expensive cities.
Wilson, who like New York’s Zohran Mamdani is a self-described socialist, focused her campaign on affordability — highlighting her own struggles to afford life in Seattle. She supported a capital gains tax to raise revenue, a move opposed by Harrell, stronger protections for renters and improving public transit. Are we seeing a new trend here?

In Seattle you have to be at least socialist adjacent to get elected dog catcher. Still pretty interesting election. Katie Wilson has a very thin resume' to say the least. The incumbent had all the major endorsements and most of the money. But she basically won this thing on social media. She posted videos of herself walking around town. They all had the format: 1. Here is problem. 2. Here is why the problem exists. 3. Here's how to fix the problem. Pretty effective, I thought. A couple of them went viral locally. We'll see if she can actually run the place or not, but she doesn't have a ton of time to learn the ropes. Seattle likes to keep its mayors on a short leash. The last five served single terms.

I wonder if the candidates of the future will simply create a slew of AI-generated little-them and custom target them at specific voting demographics using Google Analytics. You could even design crowds of on-lookers (say, filling the national mall) if your ego demanded it. Quicker and more effective than street-walking.

Yes, because of the economy.
NPR had some interesting comments on bragging yesterday. O did not brag coming out of 2009 about the economy. He may have felt people would not relate to a better economy. It was not better for many people. Biden did brag and it made him unpopular. Trump brags more than Biden did, making him very unpopular.

I don't know about Seattle but I expect the mayor-elect in NYC will be spending a lot of time fighting entrenched bureaucrats that were hired by previous mayors.
