The large focus that Democrats put on domestic terrorism is paying off.

Beanie boy is a psychopath. There's no reason that I can see for him to draw his gun, much less to pull the trigger. He draws his weapon after the Pettri is disarmed. It's as if Pettri having a weapon on him is the reason to shoot him.

There seems to be ample political support for that view, perhaps dependent on the individual's political stance.
Bill Essayli (Federal Prosecutor): Posted on X that approaching law enforcement while armed creates a "high likelihood" that a shooting will be legally justified.
FBI Director Kash Patel: Suggested that individuals do not have the right to bring firearms to protests, stating, "You can't bring a firearm... to any sort of protest that you want. It's that simple".
President Donald Trump: Stated that Pretti’s death was "very unfortunate" but added, "You can’t walk in with guns," despite Pretti having a legal permit to carry in Minnesota. He also described Pretti’s firearm as "very dangerous" and "unpredictable," suggesting it might have gone off accidentally.
Border Patrol commander Greg Bovino told a news conference that Pretti’s gun showed that he “wanted to do maximum damage and massacre law enforcement”.
Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem: Initially accused Pretti of "domestic terrorism" and claimed he was "brandishing" the weapon to "inflict maximum damage" on law enforcement. She later stated she didn't know of any "peaceful protester that shows up with a gun and ammunition rather than a sign".
White House Aide Stephen Miller: Referred to Pretti as a "domestic terrorist" and a "would-be assassin" without providing supporting evidence.

At the moment, my only hope is in that there is no statute of limitations for murder. So some day in the future - almost certainly under a different administration - there will be trials and accountability for Pretti’s death.
