Voting against a clean CR in the Senate also had bipartisan support.
Schumer wants affordable healthcare for ordinary Americans.
”This is about people being able to insure their children. And I will say, because I saw some senators speculating about this, and I saw some Republican members of Congress saying, “Oh, well, if we have this shutdown, it’s because of AOC.”
Well, if that’s the case, my office is open and you are free to walk in and negotiate with me directly, because what I’m not going to do is tolerate four million uninsured Americans because Donald Trump decided one day that he wants to just make sure that kids are dying because they don’t have access to insurance.”

Schumer said that in their Oval Office meeting, Trump didn’t seem to be aware that a big increase in health premiums was going to happen to millions of Americans.

So morning schmuck goes to a whole litany, calling Republicans and podcasters liars and then Mika reads a New York Times piece that says it’s not healthcare for illegal immigrants. It’s for reimbursements for treating illegal aliens. You can’t make this shit up.We rate this talking point as True.

And I listened to the entire segment which explains that contrary to republican claims that undocumented individuals get "cadillac" health insurance coverage, they don't qualify for any coverage through the ACA, Medicaid or Medicare. Hospitals
are required to provide emergency care under the Emergency Medical Treatment and Labor Act and would like to be reimbursed for that mandated emergency care.
We rate you and Karli Bonne' full of sh!t.

We rate it not true. The actuality is that some of the money goes to reimburse hospitals for care given in emergency situations.
"Under "Emergency Medicaid," hospitals can be reimbursed for a limited range of emergency medical services provided to undocumented immigrants, provided they meet all other non-immigration-related Medicaid eligibility requirements."
Category eligibility: They must fall into a specific Medicaid-eligible category, such as being a pregnant woman, a child, or a person with a qualifying disability. Single, non-disabled adults are generally ineligible.
Covered emergency medical conditions
Reimbursement is reserved for the treatment of a qualifying "emergency medical condition". The legal definition is broad and includes conditions that, if left untreated, could result in:
Placing the patient's health in serious jeopardy.
Serious impairment of bodily functions.
Serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part.
This includes:
Labor and delivery: This is one of the most common situations for which hospitals receive reimbursement, helping to cover the costs of
childbirth for undocumented women.
Acute trauma: Care for serious injuries resulting from accidents, violence, or other causes is typically covered.
Acute illness: This includes severe conditions such as heart attacks, strokes, or complications from chronic diseases like diabetes that
require immediate medical intervention to prevent serious harm.
Otherwise - what are the choices for the hospital?
