Stopped at a Pilot truck stop yesterday and was more than pleased to see fresh paint on the gas islands and seeing the concrete between the islands being scrubbed with a powerful cleaning machine. The restrooms were clean and the racks of merchandise neat. This is not the way it was before we closed on our 80% controlling interest. It looked like someone hadn't spent a dollar on upkeep for a long time. The billion dollars we're spending to bring the stores back looks like it's being spent well.
Had a chuckle when I went to check out and saw four self check out machines. Pilot is putting them in and Dollar General is limiting their use and taking some out. Just progress I guess, as both chains will find the optimal solution.
