After not traveling for 5+ years due to covid and also due to moving, changing jobs and dealing with my father and his eventual passing on I cashed in points/miles for a trip to Vienna and returning from Paris. The Paris part might change depending on other awards opening up.

We've been to Vienna previously for Christmas markets and realize March will still be cold but hopefully not crowded and cheaper than summer travel.

Open to suggestions what to see or where to go from Vienna. I see that Bratislava is a fairly short train ride away and might be worth a visit. Prague might also be worth a visit.
We might go back to Munich since we know someone who lives close by there.

Lichtenstein?

I have to admit to not being a fan of Paris but if we were to enter France from the southeast what cities would be worth visiting on our path to Paris for our outbound flight? Neither of us speak French (my wife speaks fluent Spanish and I'm useless with most languages).

Although not Europe we also plan to travel up to Vermont and any suggestions what to see there is also welcomed.

For now the Europe part is likely a 16 day trip. Right now we are both retired so we can be flexible.

Thanks
Rich

Never been to Vienna. Did visit Salzburg. Not sure about March, but if you get to Chur you can take the Glacier Express. Beautiful scenery when we went. We also were on our way to Paris. Stopped in Zermatt, Montreaux, and finally Zurich to catch the high-speed to Paris. I wish we had spent more time in Zurich (we couldn't wander far because we had to catch the train).

Munich might be more direct for you, but probably less scenic. We also went there (different trip), and enjoyed the two castles plus wandering the city.

Probably not much help...

DW and I enjoyed Bratislava's Old Town and castle area quite a bit.

Lyon, by all means. A wonderful city with lots to see and do. Also Strasbourg, if you get that way.
