This only confirms what my late wife and I learned during our visit to Omaha for the 2000 annual meeting.
We had dinner at Gorat's, during which I enjoyed a brief conversation with Mr. Buffett (me leaving the restroom, he on his way in).
Me: "Mr. Buffett."
Mr. Buffett: "Good to see you."
Later, as we lingered outside the restaurant in the soft spring evening (delicious stuff for a couple of Alaskans still thawing out), an SUV pulled up to the entrance. This was noticed by two teenaged skateboarders we had been watching. The restaurant door opened, and the man himself emerged. One of the daredevils lifted his head and nodded to his pal:
Skateboarder One: "That's Warren Buffett."
Skateboarder Two: "Dude's got some dough."

Your story reminded me of an amusing exchange I overhead between a young couple and a hotel receptionist while checking in at a hotel before the annual meeting. With excited shareholders buzzing about the hotel lobby, the young fellow asked the clerk why Omaha was so busy. The receptionist replied that it was the Warren Buffett meeting. The puzzled young fellow asked, “Who’s Warren Buffett?” The receptionist replied, “Oh, you know. He’s like Elvis, only bigger!” ;-)

Really impressive that Warren had about $877,551,020 in wealth outside of his Berkshire shares in 2006.

On his salary!? Amazing. It would be so enlightening to see a breakdown of the holdings and trading history. What an epic story that would tell!
