Trump respects a blunt display of force, but I find myself wondering if like so many of us, the Canadian Gov't is waiting to see what happens with midterms, while quietly working in the background with their moves towards trade diversification. Will the US be able to claw it's adherence to the Constitution back?
That's the only option anyone has. On Truth Social Trump said that the purpose of the tariffs is to punish Canada for wild fire smoke blowing into the US. If the fires go out, do the tariffs go away?
The US and Canada already had a trade deal, USMCA, signed by Trump. It's futile to try to make deals with someone who breaks is own deals for random reasons. I'm fairly certain Iran is waiting until the midterms until negotiating seriously. Sure, Iran is taking some damage but so are we. Gas is nearly $6/gallon here in Washington State. Trump is playing this weird game of global chicken that no one else wants to play.
