Covid can cause damage to the heart on a cellular level that can lead to lasting problems, including irregular heartbeats and heart failure, preliminary research suggests.

An example is a patient in his 40s who my husband tested today before he begins cardiac rehab. My husband does CPET (cardio-pulmonary exercise testing) evaluations, and this guy was tested today to determine his starting exercise level. What has brought him to cardiac rehab at such a young age? He recently had a heart transplant, the result of covid-caused irreparable damage to his heart.
