WhatsApp is a center of privacy, whereas Signal truly is.
WhatsApp data goes to a server metadata owns. Whether encrypted at rest or regardless of declarations made by them that they value privacy, they have the data, and you don't any longer exclusively. They’ll monetize it somehow. It will be compromised at scale at some point.
Signal, data is on a senders device and a re pints device. That’s it. Signal likes it this way. They’re a nonprofit as well.
There’s a very good reason 100% of the intelligence community folks I still message use this. Not a one has said “hey, do you WhatsApp”.
