It takes 5 to make 1 for 24/7 coverage of anything. I did a lot of shift work in DoD must-fill jobs, in critical operations centers, and this is well known.
One on shift, one who just rotated off, one coming on, in a 24 hour day.
One on vacation, one training or similar. Nights and weekends aren’t the most fun for this work, but 24/7 is 24/7, and three on with no #4 and #5 doesn’t work over time.
This isn’t cheap. People who are reasonably competent willing to do shift work do not come for minimum wage. One on shift is not full coverage either - they have to use the head at some time, eat a snack, write duty logs. So really it wouldn’t surprise me if two were on duty for a high, high profile executive protection detail.
They might need some gear, incur some bills, have some training/maintain proficiency costs. Cameras are usually a bit above a Ring doorbell.
Frankly, it wouldn’t surprise me if a basic plan for executive protection didn’t come up and eclipse 7 figures for a year.
