After reading that fantastic Q2 summary, I am picturing the Hulk walking through a future crumbling American metropolis. Skyscraper glass is shattering, buildings are collapsing and explosions are ripping through the streets as he takes direct hits from PacifiCorp's wildfire liabilities and GEICO’s cost inflation.
But nothing stops this giant, backed by a $747.9B equity base, the largest of any corporate balance sheet in the US. Shielded by a massive $359.2B cash fortress providing dry powder for when things get really ugly. The internal engine is hammering away, throwing off $13B in quarterly operating earnings from the non-insurance businesses. The highly concentrated $323.8B stock portfolio in elite, durable compounders like Apple, Amex and now Alphabet provide an offensive punch.
An unstoppable giant calmly marching through the craziness.
On a serious note, is Berkshire Hathaway not the perfect investment for widows and orphans at this moment in history. Thank you architect Charlie Munger and former capital allocation master Warren Buffett.
Good to see Percision Castparts doing so well. And comforting to have the OXY investment tucked away.
Thanks for the great write up BabyB.
